              Deerfield Cottages,Schweppes Factory,West Hendon

Frank Oliver(1867 - 1941) was the first Oliver to work for Schweppes and lived

at 55 Deerfield Cottages. The earliest electoral record I have from 1906 shows Frank as living at number 55 Deerfield Cottages. The 1911 census shows Frank living with a widow Louisa Warren and her 2 children Thomas and Hubert.Frank lived there until about 1928 when he moved(with Louisa) to 14 Stanley Road also in West Hendon.

Frank Oliver(1915 - 1996) moved to Deerfield Cottages in the early 1950´s and lived at number 26.He worked for Schweppes for 30 years and left Deerfield Cottages in the mid 1960s.

Harry Oliver(1921 - 2003) moved to Deerfield Cottages in about 1959 and lived at numbers 22,43 and 57 and was one of the last to move out in about 1970.Harry had 4 children at Deerfield Cottages(Barbara 1959,Peter 1960,Kenneth 1962 and Derek 1963.

Harry also worked for Schweppes for over 25 years before it closed in about 1975.Schweppes was totaly closed in about 1980 when it was demolished.I believe the final part of the cottages were pulled down in about 1977.

On the 9th August 1975 the Oliver family had a re - union at Schweppes. It was a massive get together from all sides of the Oliver family.

Both Yvonne Howard(Oliver) and Margeret Bailey(Oliver) had wedding receptions at Schweppes in 1976 and 1978.

Sadly all that remains today is the road leading down to where Deerfield Cottages once stood. It is now all warehouses and unreconisable from when Schweppes was the main attention with its pub/reception hall, bowling green, football and cricket team.

If you take a look in the photo gallery you can see all the different photos I have put and see how these houses/streets look like.

I hope you enjoyed this little trip into a bit of the Oliver London history. If you find any new dates, facts or pictures please let me know.
