The Oliver Family History
The Oliver Family Story
The 1st of January 2010 I was looking at a picture of my dad(Harry Oliver 1921 - 2003) with his 4 brothers Jim,Frank,Dennis and John taken in Kent I guess in the 1970s.I knew my dad came from Kilburn,North London and I knew he had 4 brothers and a sister Kathleen.I remember once as a kid going around Kilburn with my dad but that is all I remember.I needed to know more,I needed to know where, how and when.I was curious to see how it all began.
It now has become a fantastic journey which stretches back to Southwark London in 1555 through Hampshire and back to London in the 1860s.It tells a story of where we came from, where we were and where we ended up.
I hope you enjoy looking into The Oliver Family Story and if you believe you have some useful information please do let me know.
Below will tell you the basics of this homepage.
The home page will take you back to the start page. Also on the home page on the right side you will see the "keep it touch" page. Please use this to contact me.You can also write to me at derekoliver@mail.com
The houses and streets of London are what I believe to be the 5 most important houses/streets in the modern Oliver history.
The family members is a page dedicated to Olivers who I believe should not be forgotten.
The Oliver family tree direct line starts with the oldest Oliver first(Henry)and I have gone forward to my grandfather Harry(1871 - 1943)..I still need to search lots of historical records to try to confirm the name and family members.I will do my best to update things as soon as I find anything new. Please remember Harry Oliver (1871 - 1943) is the father of Norah,Kathleen,Frank,James(Jim),Harry,John and Dennis.
The DNA I2b1 is my DNA and shows roughly where we came from about 10,000 years ago.It is a bit heavy to read but interesting anyway.I was hoping for more but I hope more will be revealed as time goes by.
The photo gallery shows photos of people, census, buildings, death, marriage and birth certificates etc. Each photo has a little message explaining what the photograph is about. Also if you double click the photo a larger copy will appear.I will continue to add photos but I am trying to get "group" or "couple" photos as not to take up so much space. The photos are NOT in any order.
The written letters are letters written by someone in the Oliver family explaining a bit about the life of that persons family history.I also hope to later pass the letter onto someone in that persons family. It is a great feeling to pass on a written letter to another family member for safe keeping for later generations to look at.
Also it is impossible to do copy a family tree onto this page due to the sheer size of the Oliver family. If anyone has any good ideas on how this can be done then please let me know.
I hope you enjoy the Oliver family page and remember if you have any information please let me know.
